Sailing back into the past to present you the founding of Thimar
”The experience of the past is born in a new company” was our slogan at the start of our journey. Martin started in the marine refrigeration and industrial business in August, 1985 at the world-renowned ‘Van West Marine Refrigeration & Services B.V.’ (later Van West Koudetechniek B.V.), located in Schiedam, the Netherlands.
‘My father had over 35 years of work experience at ITHO B.V. in Schiedam, which was the first, and for a long time, the sole Dutch dealer for Danfoss products. It was the main representative for it and for many other brands, including Anaconda, Eco, ESK, Kuba, Prestcold/Copeland, Robinair, L’Unité Hermetique, Theben and KMP/Virginia.’
‘Additionally, the company was an important distributor of ‘Danfoss System Hydraulik’, a brand that helped improve their services aboard travelling vessels. All marine-related inquiries and orders were sent to the Van West company, which played the role of right-hand operating branch office’.
Their main customers were ship-owners, ship-managers and ship-chandlers from around the globe.
During that time, we helped to increase the sales of Danfoss products to seagoing vessels. We supplied and installed Danfoss products for all international brands from around the world.
Nowadays, there are no vessels sailing without Danfoss products on board. We have sold many refrigerating compressors and spare parts to vessels.
To add onto this, we have overhauled the compressors of many brands like Bitzer, Bock, Carlyle, Carrier, Daikin, Dorin, DWM-Copeland, Maneurop, Prestcold, RefComp, Sabroe and Tecumseh Blissfield U.S.A. in the workshop or aboard the vessels.
After many years of experience in the marine industrial- & refrigeration business we started Thimar, a company aimed to help our well known customers with all kind of Danfoss products as well as refrigerating compressors & spare parts, refrigeration components, refrigerants & compressor oil, refrigeration tools, window- and split type air conditioners (especially for voltages 115V and 230V with a frequency of 60Hz).
Today, we are still a small company, with high stock levels of many marine related products and refrigeration compressor spare parts.
